A Twidash Short

Twilight Sparkle was never was much for relationships. She had her books to read after all. Only her brother Shining Armor meant anything to her. Well of course she loved her parents but she was never all to close to them, especially after she joined Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. When she moved to Ponyville she still only remained close to Shining Armor, but somepony else seemed to catch her eye whenever she would read in the park. For some reason a rainbow would always distract her from her reading.

Twilight was laying on the bench in Ponyville park reading another novel about the flow of space time and geometric anomalies. She needed to know everything she could if she was going to perfect that time travel spell she used to try and warn herself…or stop herself really...a few months ago. She giggled at herself upon the thought of how ridiculous she had acted that day. She was reading about the flow of hyperspace wormholes when all of a sudden she saw the flash of a rainbow out of the corner of her eye. She looked up and saw the cyan coat of Rainbow Dash dipping and diving through the sky as she cleared the last few clouds for the day. Twilight just watched, completely enthralled in Rainbow's back flips and high-speed turns. She pondered for a moment how it was that Rainbow Dash had so much power in her wings. She remembered back when they had to send rainwater to Cloudsdale and she took measurements of all the Pegasi's wing power. That's when she first started to feel that…emotion…for Rainbow. To see her wing power at 16 compared to all the others, Rainbow Dash was so strong. Twilight realized she was starring and shook her head. No, she couldn't have emotions for another mare. She knew Shining Armor wouldn't approve. She looked back down at her book and tried to continue reading. Unfortunately she heard the whooshing noise of the multi-colored Pegasi as she dissipated a cloud nearly right over Twilight. She looked up and just let a subtle smile don her lips.

Rainbow Dash could never thought of having a relationship with anypony. She always accepted the fact that she would never have a special somepony. She was to fast, to selfish, and above all; to awesome. No pony would hold her down, especially if it was some Earth Pony or above anypony else, a Unicorn. Rainbow wasn't to fond of how Unicorns always were able to do everything better than her or the Earth Ponies. She didn't despise unicorns, she was just…she sighed and figured that maybe she was just jealous of them. Why was she jealous of them? She scorned herself for being jealous of them. Maybe though, it was because of that purple Unicorn from Canterlot that had her stirred up.

Rainbow ducked under a cloud formation and did a back flip, as he hind legs came around she shot them out and smashed the cloud into nothingness. She cupped her wings to straighten out and then pushed against the air with all her might. With a hoof stretched out in front of her she destroyed two more cloud pictures. She looked down, panting, and saw that she was over Ponyville park. She figured she would clear this place out first before moving on to Ponyville square. After all, she knew a lot of ponies liked to hang out in the park. She dove through a puffy white mist and when it dissipated she saw on the bench, Twilight. Rainbow rolled her eyes when she saw her reading yet another book, but she couldn't help but keep watching. A smile crossed her lips as she saw how cute the purple mare looked with her fore hooves crossed over one another and her horn aglow from turning a page. The cyan Pegasus shook her head, she had to get back to work. She bucked another cloud, did a barrel roll through some others, and then stopped to clear out a cloud that was directly over Twilight. She looked down and saw that the violet pony had been staring at her the whole time. Rainbow blushed and wondered if Twilight…she dropped the thought. What would Scootaloo do if she found out Rainbow had feelings for another mare? Or worse, what if Gilda came back and found out. She dashed behind  tree and hid there.

Rainbow sighed. Maybe Twilight thought the same of her, after all she had been smiling up at her. She looked up and saw that there was still one cloud left. She hovered up from the branches and looked down at Twilight. She was reading again, but she had a hoof up to block the sun's bright rays. Rainbow clicked her tongue at an idea. She flew to the last cloud and lowered it just over Twilight's head, between her and the sun. she put her hoof down and continued reading. Dash was okay with that as she laid on the cloud and watched her favorite nerd.
